[gtkmm] mozilla-style Tab buttons

Hello list,

Is there a way to have two single buttons to open/close all Notebook's Tabs,
in the same row of the Tabs?

I mean, just like mozilla does: a little "open" icon on the left side, 
another
little "close" icon on the right, and the Tabs in the middle.

Would it require to rewrite the whole Notebook container?
Has this already be done/discussed anywhere?
