[gtkmm] problems updating gcc compiler on SuSE Linux 8.2 (gtkmm compilation error)

Dear Murray,
Could you please tell me where and how to update the gcc compiler with it's bugs?! I really don't know how to update the compiler. Or do you recommend to download the full compiler from gnu.org? I followed the Bug track on the link you gave me down and clicked on the Patch link, but i have really no idea how to patch the current compiler. There opened just a text file and that was it.

For any ideas, thank you. for information, my compilers version:

linux:/ # gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 3.3 20030226 (prerelease) (SuSE Linux)

For any help....

Thank you

We believe that this is a gcc 3.3 bug, which has already been fixed:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=gtkmm&m=105704222923393&w=2

Unfortunately SuSE does not seem to have a public bug tracker so it is
difficult for us to track this. Please ask SuSE when they will ship a
version of gcc which will fix this problem.
