Can you just read the default value at runtime and then use it later? I
don't think there's a better way, though you could ask on the GTK+ list
about default property values in general.
There is a file (filetree.cc) by Daniel Elstner, distributed as an
example in
this mail list, and it has a line:
"renderer.property_foreground_gdk().reset_value();"
so I've thought there might be a magic way to reset the value of a cell
of any datatype.
