Yes, that's what I was telling you in the release announcement. So build
gtk+ 2.0.x instead. I don't see the problem.

Most people find it very easy to build gtk+ and gtkmm and their
dependencies.

Not many people use .spec files. The distros have their own spec files.
If you want working spec files then you have to contribute your own work
to them.
