You are using an old version of pango:
http://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=55743
Eclipse 3.0 requires at least GTK+ 2.2.1 and its related libraries.
How you figure out what version you have depends on how you installed
it, but at least for pango you can look at the libpango-1.0.so links.
libpango-1.0.so.0.200.5 === pango 1.2.5.
