I've checked this already, as far as I can see the symbols are there:
# nm /usr/local/lib/libgdk-x11-2.0.so | grep gdk_drawable_get_display

The LD_LIBRARY_PATH ist set to
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local:/usr/local/lib:/usr/X11R6/lib
Actually I see no difference in the linker output, even if I have an empty LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
