Activate event for window

Hi all,
   How do I know when a partcular window is in front of all the other.
That is, I have a lot of windows open. When the user switches from one
window to other window, I have to chaneg some context informaion. I
tried to use activate-default and activate-focus. That didn't work.

I am using Windows.
