What is your GTK and Pango's versions ? ... IMHO, probably it's a
incompatibility problem ..

Try

:~$ pkg-config --modversion gtk+-2.0
2.6.2
:~$ pkg-config --modversion pango
1.8.0

And verify the compatibility between them ...
