gtk+-2.6.0 build errors: read error: Operation not supported by device

I am having problems building gtk+-2.6.0 on NetBSD with shared libraries. I am getting the following erros when building the modules: read error:
Operation not supported by device

This example of the error is from the make check.

make check
Making check in po
Making check in po-properties
Making check in gdk-pixbuf
make check-recursive
Making check in pixops
LOADERS=`echo libpixbufloader-*.la` ; if test "x$LOADERS" != 'xlibpixbufloader-*.la' ; then echo "Writing a gdk-pixbuf.loader file to use when running examples before installing gdk-pixbuf."; ../gdk-pixbuf/gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders $LOADERS > ./gdk-pixbuf.loaders ; else echo "No dynamic modules found; will use only static modules for uninstalled example programs."; touch gdk-pixbuf.loaders; fi Writing a gdk-pixbuf.loader file to use when running examples before installing gdk-pixbuf. g_module_open() failed for /devel/build/NetBSD/gtk/gtk+-2.6.0/gdk-pixbuf/libpixbufloader-tiff.la: /devel/build/NetBSD/gtk/gtk+-2.6.0/gdk-pixbuf/.libs/: read error: Operation not supported by device

I am including the output from the configure script if it helps. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am also getting similar errors when building pango.
