Copy-clipboard

Hi,
  My problem is :
     I want to use Gtk Clipboard to implement copy functionality. But I
don't have any idea of what type of widget it is. Basically it is a
composite widget.Can I have any copyclipboard function which is
independent of Widget, means which can be use ful for general widget.
