I'm sorry to interrupt this discussion here a bit, but solving my
original problem would be nice ;-)


| I create a hbox and pack a label and a slider into it and set them to

| If I don't pack the slider into the box, just the label and can call
| "gtk_widget_show(box)", the label appears as wished. And another call
| of "gtk_widget_hide(box)" lets it disappear again. Everything fine!

| If I pack the slider into the box but don't call the show-method for
| the slider it also works.

| Another thing I tried, was to let the box always be visible and just
| try to add and remove my slider. But the program freezes again.

| The same problem exists with checkboxes and normal boxes. I've also
| tried some versions without signal connects, but this doesn't change
| anything.
