How to change cursor shape or color in gtk immodule?

Hi

I'm developing gtk input method module.
Many users want to notice input mode, ie, english mode or composing
mode. Yes , there is already the status window or other similar
informations. But they are too far from the user's sight. So I want to
show the input mode information near the cursor position.

One solution for this to show status window at cursor position but it
is too large and very annoying to user because it hides some texts
under it. So I want to change the cursor shape or color in gtk
immodule code.

Is it possible or is there any other solution ?
