GTK TreeView Column Header Colors

Is it possible to change the foreground and background
color of the column header in a GTK TreeView, using a
ListStore as the model?

I found that I can successfully pack a widget (say, a
button with a label) into the column header, and
change the colors of this button/label widget, but it
just doesn't look right since the button does not
expand to fill the entire column header cell.  

Is there an easier way to do this?  As always, any
help is greatly appreciated, and some example code
would be a miracle! :-)
