API for Printing

Hi,

I'd like to know, if there's a platform independet way to print 
something out. I'd like to use my GTK programs with Windows and Linux.

I've heard that GTK+ does not provide an interface for printing. Is this 
right?
I think it was very helpful to have some easy to use printing functions 
for GtkTextViews and Pixmaps.
