Using readline from glib2 mainloop

Hi,
  I am looking to add a typebuffer to ego (see sig) somewhat similar to
what efm used to have and also modeled around the mini buffer of emacs.

Does anyone know of apps that take gdk input and feed it to readline?
>From the little R&D I have done it might be easier to use libedit for
this but since some of the tools I use regularly use readline I'd like
to use readline for my app.

Any thoughts ?
