No.

You will however need to port each application to use the new 2.0 APIs.

Rather than "upgrading", I suggest you install gtk 2.0 *in addition to* 1.2,
as they will co-exist quite nicely.  Keep your current 1.2 install intact,
and then you can upgrade each application as time/availability permits.
