connecting callbacks to signals

i never quite got the hang of this...

can someone explain the difference between gtk_signal_connect and
gtk_signal_connect_object?

in what context would someone use gtk_signal_connect_object?  i haven't
had an occaision to use it yet, but i've seen it in various code.

i never really understood the difference between the two functions
(other than the fact that they take different arguments).


any illumination would be appreciated!
