gtk_entry_set_text

If my application is running for long time I have a call to
gtk_enty_set_text on a specific widget that gets executed hundreds of
thousands of times.  Is there a chance this could be causing a problem?
I am getting a Bad Length (poly request too large ... type of message
that I am trying to track down and so far I am leaning towards that
gtk_entry_set_text call.

Any ideas?
