missing gtk-config file

Hi List!

I have a problem...

I have tried to build the gtk+ 2.0.1 package and it seems that everything 
worked fine. I can even start the gtk-demo program, but when I try
to install gimp it looks for the gtk-config file and doesn't find it, thus 
aborting the build process.

I looked through my system and what I found is, that I do NOT have a file 
called gtk-config in my whole system!

So I think while building gtk+ this file was not generated!

Any ideas about it?
