Accelerators in editable widgets

Hi,

On trying to implement global accelerators for a Window, notably Alt+F 
(_File) and Alt+D (_Debug), I noticed that when an editable widget has the 
focus, notably a GtkCombo widget, these accelerators do not work as the combo 
box has them assigned to other functions.  Is there any easy way to turn 
these accelerators off for the combo box and other associated editable 
widgets?
