beginner question about hiding

Greetings
I have a table with some labels and some entry boxes..
I want to hide some of them without having the table cells resized and
without using the table homogeneus flag..
Also the GtkAttachOptions didn't help
I'm using gtk_widget_hide(), are there other ways to do that?
