Glib installation problems on Suse

Hi all,

When trying to compile glib 1.2.9 on Suse Linux I get the following
error.

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [testglib] Error 1

Has anyone else experienced this problem and do they know how to remedy
it?
