./configure Glib problem

hi everyone:

after I go to ftp.gnu.org to download the gettext-0.10.40 and make
install ok,
than I ./configure glib-1.3.9 from ftp.gtk.org

but.....

found xgettext program is not GNU xgettext; ignore it configure: error:

 You must have either have gettext support in your C library, or use the

 GNU gettext library.(http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/gettext.html
