no shadow on text widget?

Hi folks

Please excuse me if this is a stupid question.

I'm using a bunch of text widgets and setting colours on a per widget
basis rather than using the theme setting. Is there a way to lose
the shadow around the edge of the text widget (which makes it appear
sunken with respect to the border) so the widget appears flat, and
set this from within my program?
