   There are several text widgets mentioned in this thread.

   1) The original GtkText.

   2) GtkExText by Mikael Hermansson evolved from GtkText to have more
source code editing features.

   3) Havoc Pennington's port of the Tk text edit widget. Currently the best
widget for roles more complex than straight text such as including pictures
within text.

   4) Derek Simkowiak's as yet unreleased text widget.

   5) Scintilla is the widget I've been working on. It is really only for
editing source code and is available on GTK+/X, wxWindows and Windows.
