RE: [gtk-list] Re: gtk 1.2.6 prob & ident!

Great! I thought I wouldn't find RPM versions of 1.2.6. THanks! Just one
question, how do I remove the glib1.2.1 I have installed if I dont know the
exact name of the package since it was installed with Redhat v6.0? Is there
a listing I could get of all the RPM's installed maybe and I could just pick
the name from this list?
-----------------
I have one question I'm in desperate need of solving...and you seem to know
your stuff so maybe you can help me with this one as many dont seem to know:

How can I reinstall ident on my redhat v6.0? Or is that
what I need to do..read the below scenario...

There is this ftp site that does ident checking and I WAS able to login
before from linux but now it keeps telling me *@24.112.190.49 is not valid
for the account specified. Also, trying to get on IRC, it tells me "You
MUST have valid ident to connect here."

I think I screwed it up when I tried to install pidentd-3.0.10. Reason why
I tried is cuz I am sharing my internet connection from win98 via samba.
In win98, which sits on 192.168.1.3, I just set the gateway to point to my
192.168.1.1 (where redhat is with the internet connection on
24.112.190.49).
I set DNS in win98 to 24.2.9.33 which is the same DNS as on my linux pc. I
now have internet connection in win98. Everything is fine but I cant login
from win98 to this ftp site or irc either...keeps telling me *@24.112.190.49
is
not valid for the account specified.

So what I was trying to do was to allow me to connect to that site from
win98 instead of just linux by installing pidentd-3.0.10. Now, I can't
login to that site from linux or win98! I'm not 100% sure though that
pidentd is what caused this.

What can I do to fix this so I can login to that site from linux again,
win98 or preferrably both? Can I get the original package reinstalled which
will give me ident back?

Remove (with "rpm -e <package-name>") all instances of glib 1.2.1 and gtk+
1.2.1 from your disk. Add /usr/local/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf and run
ldconfig. Now try to recompile GTK+. (read on for the easy version)

There are RPMs for RedHat:

ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/stable/redhat/i386/glib/glib-1.2.6-1.i386.rpm

ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/stable/redhat/i386/glib/glib-devel-1.2.6-1.i38
6.rpm

ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/stable/redhat/i386/gtk+/gtk+-1.2.6-1.i386.rpm

ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/stable/redhat/i386/gtk+/gtk+-devel-1.2.6-1.i38
6.rpm

Download the RPMs, install them using "rpm -i <package-file>".

I can't help you with rpm, because I'm a Debian user. "man rpm" will help
you.
