xpdq problem

I am trying to get pdq program for printing to work. I believe
I have installed all the files properly.
When I enter 'xpdq' a window should appear that guides me
through setting up my printer. However, when I enter 'xpdq' I get:
Gtk-WARNING
cannot open display.
Can anyone help me on this one?
