error message from gtk

Hello All,
My gtk application died while running in a scrolled text window
with the following error:

Gdk-ERROR **: BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length erro
  serial 169305 error_code 16 request_code 3 minor_code 0

Did I overflow some kind of buffer? If so how do I clear out the
buffer as my application continously writes to this buffer.
