where's that new file selector ?

several months ago, someone posted an improved file selection widget
that had, amongst other features, provision for filtering the list of
files displayed.

the GTK web site has no obvious repository for widgets not
incorporated into the release (though i often miss such things, so
tell me if there is one). this leaves me wondering: where is that
widget ?
