How to set textbox size?

Hello again,

I'd really like to have something like a spinbox, but with an attached
slider.  I've tried connecting a scale widget to some callbacks which
will update a text entry box, but the box is too wide!  How can I
configure the width of the box.  Function
gtk_entry_new_with_max_length(gint) only allows me to limit the size of
the data in the text entry.
