Hi,

In your repaint_drawing_area() function you call gtk_widget_draw(); I
think the drawing area's implementation of gtk_widget_draw() simply
synthesizes an expose event. You can identify synthetic expose events
because the "send_event" member in the event struct will be set to TRUE.
