CTree expand symbol

Hello,

I'm new to gtk and I'm mucking around a bit with the ctree widget. I
have a little question, is it possible to make the expand symbol show
even when a branch hasn't got any children. I'd like to dynamically add
the children after the expand event and remove them all after the
collapse event.
Apparently by default empty branches don't get this symbol.
