List selection after deletion

Do the Gtk+ list widgets currently select another item, if the current
item is deleted while selected?

It seems that I am always re-creating code that selects another item if
the current is deleted, in single-sel lists and trees.  It would be
great if there was a way for me to avoid having to do it manually.
