gtk on AIX 4.3

Has anyone gotten this to compile on AIX 4.3? I have tried and keep getting:
gcc -g -O2 -Wall -o testgtk testgtk.o .libs/libgtk.a -lXext -lX11 -lm

/home/bones/glib-1.1.15/.libs/libglib.

make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is 1.

Am I missing some flags?
