MFC's DoModal in GTK

Hello all
Attached is my simplest program 
demonstrating a modal dialog in GTK.
This code summarizes all I've read 
on this list during last three months.
The do_modal function claims to resemble
DoModal in MFC.
The main window has the destroy event blocked
during modal dialog's execution.
But the possibility of minimization
is not blocked.
Maybe someone knows how to do this
