Q: How to return result from modal dialog ?!

Hello!

I want to display a modal dialog with an selection and return the
value of the selection imediatly after destruction. I don't want to
use a callback, because it's an small selection window often used.

Any ideas to implement it?
Can I return an result with gtk_main_quit() ?
