Header files is not the same as library files ?

Hi .. 

	i get an error msg while trying to compiled gtk application such as
x11amp .. 

checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.0... *** GTK+ header files (version 1.0.6) do not match
*** library (version 1.2.1)
no
configure: error: *** GTK+ >= 1.2.0 not installed - please install first ***

question: how do i upgrade my gtk header files to 1.2.1 as same as library
files

note: i have succesfuly installed glib and gtk version 1.2.1
