gtk_combo question

 Hello,

  I want to use the combo widget not only as an option widget, also as
a rename-widget. So when the user types in gtk_combo->gtk_entry, i want to
prevent the widget to set combo selection to the first item. in other
words, the selection should not change when user types in
gtk_combo->gtk_entry. can i do this? how?
