GtkText widget ignores colors ?!?!?!

Hi !

I am almost done writing a nice little application with the GTK+
(V1.0.3) and now I have run into a problem I cannot solve, so I hope
you guys will be able to help me...

Since I want the app to be as flexible as possible I include a gtkrc
file for the styles so the user can edit it himself if he feels like
it. This works very nicely on everything BUT the GtkText widget.

No matter what I do the textwidget keeps the white background and the
black font - I know I am doing things right, because all the other
things change colors AND the textwidget changes it's font... but never
it's color.

I can force it to draw the text with a specific bg and fg color, but
that looks totally crappy because the bg will only assume the color
under the text - around it it is still white.

Am I missing something here or has the GtkText widget a major problem
with colors ???

Thanks in advance,
		Georg

P.S. Since I am VERY eager to finish the program now I'd love a quick
answer...:-)
