I'd like to counter that GTK is designed for "The whole world"(c)1998,
vs "The ANSI Standard world"(circa)1985.
Since not everyone is "ANSI Standard", and since this is designed to
benefit one of the broadest platform sets I've ever seen, limiting it to
"ANSI Standard" would probably limit the number of systems this will
correctly install on. IMO.
As for Optimization, that's a compiler issue, -again IMO.
