Latin-1 & Latin-2

I need to be able to type and display latin-2 letters (for example the Czech
alphabet) and latin-1 like this:

Czech word            : slovo
Norwegian translation : ord

etc...

Is this possible with Gtk? I would also be very interested if somebody
has tips of how to do this...
