possible gtklist interface improvements?

are there any plans/objections to allowing gtklist widgets work like the
updated gtkcombo in the 1.1 tree? by this i mean allowing several
different items to be selected in one mouse click+drag. in effect, the
user could click on one thing, slide the selection down to something else,
let go, and the something else would be their choice.

i'd be glad to look into writing this myself, if it isn't against some
"gtk rule" and assuming nobody else is implementing it themselves.
