gtk lines and points

i'll make a program for digital signal processing and wanna do the
interface with gtk.
it'll be my first program in x, so i have some doubts.
i read the gtk tutorial, but didn't find the way to draw lines or points.

i know there's a XDrawLine and XDrawPoint in motif, but how can i do it
under gtk?

i tried the gdk info, but there are a lot of empty nodes.
where can i find more documentation?

is there something like a DrawingArea widget?
