Since installing new RPM's of GTK etc would break many things on my
system :( and 0.99 Text widget seemed to be broken, I downloaded and
compiled 1.0.4 without any problems on my RH 5.0+. At the moment the
RPM has 0.99 with libs 1.0.0 (strange, I expected them to be 0.99).
So I installed the .tar.gz result into /opt (the RPM was not that
flexible) due to disk space and to avoid messing with the other
libs. I have a script to 'shell' the executable to use and link
against 1.0.4 instead of the 0.99 libs
libgtk.so.1 => /opt/lib/libgtk.so.1 (0x40000000)
libgdk.so.1 => /opt/lib/libgdk.so.1 (0x4009a000)
libglib.so.1 => /opt/lib/libglib.so.1 (0x400b9000)
libXi.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXi.so.6 (0x400c7000)
libXext.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6 (0x400ce000)
libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x400d9000)
libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x40170000)
libtrace.so.0 => /home/grimaldo/Clib/lib/libtrace.so.0 (0x4018b000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x4018e000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00000000)
No problem really, seems to work fine so far without having to break
the rest of my system :) So finally I can develop with both 0.99
and 1.0.4 on Linux as well as HP (1.0.4).
Cheers,
Emilio
