I was crestfallen to find that GDK (a 1.0.x version that came with my 
Linux distrubution) doesn't support 4 bit displays, or at least doesn't 
support the visual of the XF86-VGA16 server (which I am forced to use 
with an unsupported video card).  Can somebody give me an idea of what it 
would require to make GDK work with this server?
