Accelerators...

Does anyone have a simple tutorial on accelerators? Like how to start an
accelerator table, and what `guint8 modifier' values are equivalent to
which keys. IE: what value is the ALT key?
I've looked at all the tutorials and references that I could find, and
haven't seemed to find anything on accelerators.
