Another multithreading proxy approach

For anyone interested in Scott Dybiec's General Proxy Kit, you might want
to see the material at:

in the "Library saftey" section, which documents a bit more of Scott's
GPK, as well as:

  <http://www.numeric-quest.com/lang/nq_proxy.c>

which is another take on the same concept (in this case not specific to
Gtk) using special GCC features to simplify the calling mechanism, at the
cost of portability.
