Somewhat related questions:
1.) Does Gnome use the UNIX 'file' command (or a library equivalent of
the file command) to determine
incons/filetypes? Or does it use (the stupid Winblows way) file
extensions? Just curious. Once I get gmc up on my system, I'm sure I
will find this out for myself :-)
2.) Wouldn't it be cool (if the answer to #1 is yes :-) to have a unique
icon for every entry in /usr/share/magic? I think it would. Well, anyway...
3.) Someone said something about actually having a preview (using the
as-of-yet-nonexistent GTK+ preview widget :-) of an image as its icon
(maybe preserving that little 'gif','jpeg','xpm' tag over it?).
Whoever is doing that, I just want to lend you my moral support, as I
think that would be realllly cool. Quite a hack. I would owe you my
second born (I already owe that Raster guy my first for the theme thing).
Good luck :-)
