Glib-ERROR **

Hi
I get this error when I try to exec programs compiled with GLib:

GLib-ERROR**: could not allocate 8192 bytes
aborting..
/usr/X11R6//bin/pauseme: line 5: 250 IOT trap/Abort     $PROG "$@"

The binarys compiled ok with no errors and I get that result when I try to run them. I have Glib 1.1.6 and Gtk+ 1.1.6 installed on the system. Am I missing any other libs common to the 1.1.6 version? Any help would be greatly apreciated.
