Trouble with install (gtk+1.0.5)

Heloo !!!

I'm running slachware 2.0.30 with X windows and I would like to install
the gtk+ lib but I'm having some problems.

The first one is that the ./configure script does't want to run through.
It runs out when checking for host system type the error is :

checking host system type... Invalid configuration
`486-pc-linux-gnulibc1': machine '486-pc-linux' not recognized

and then the whole thing ends. Well I figured out a way to correct the
problem. I forced the script to use the option --host=i486-pc-linux and it
worked just great.

But then when I tried to compile the whole thing the make file in
directory /glib said :

And I can not compile it ... whatever I tried. On the sistem I have
installed c library 5.4.33 and lib c++ 27.2.1.

Pleas help me I really need gtk badly ...
